How to Make Roti (Guyanese Style)

Now I know why we call my Mother in Law "Asbestos Hands".

I once tried to make Roti.
We won't talk about the "Serbian Frisbee" incident.
I just may attempt to fail again in the near future, my friends...

Its hard to make roti. But I am taking online orders to have fresh rotis shipped anywhere in the U.S. Go to etsy.com and search for 'guyanese rotis'. If you have questions on how to make it, I will gladly give you some tips. Been making them since I was ten years old. Don't ask how old I am now !!

That was awesome! I spent a year and a half in Region 1 in Guyana and our Guyanese roommate was a pro! Your video is great and is even easier than my friend's method!

When my Mum made her rotis, I am sure she did the rolling out and oiling steps three times, before cooking them on the flat iron. I had forgotten about the clapping stage!!

anon, I have yet to follow this recipe.

My Mother in law is still kickin', and makes the best roti I've ever had.

I guess I should learn from her, but my one and only attempt was a pathetic failure...and it's pretty labour intensive to fail.

One day I'll follow this recipe when I'm feeling industrious.

Thank you so much. I'm from Jamaica where roti is not a mainstream meal. However, when I move back and open my little place, it will definitely be served with my jerk pork etc.
